Barry was an owner operator of a small Scottish trawler out of Port Ellen Islay. He learnt his trade with his first boat, "The Guiding Star CN 96". He enjoyed many years of successful fishing and camaraderie with "the Fleet". Even into retirement he kept a close relationship with the sea, building an angling boat that together with his son fished off the North Norfolk coast.
